Torpedo carrier truck for Bharat Dynamics Limited
A torpedo carrier truck, manufactured by Nandan GSE, a Navi Mumbai based engineering company was commissioned today at defence PSU Bharat Dynamics Limited, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
At 40 tons, among the largest mobile cranes in India, its knuckle boom can pick up and place a 5-ton load at a distance of 8 meters.
BDL which started its journey, quite modestly, with a single product in 1970 has evolved into a multi-product, multi-unit, leading defence PSU handling varied technologies, with a turnover of Rs. 2700 crores.
According to Raghunandan Jagdish, Managing Director of Nandan GSE “The distance between the load and crane, allows the knuckle to retract and expand, giving the operator total and secure control in the maneuvering of the loads.”
“They occupy less space and are used in a Construction, Mining, Marine, Forestry and with special modifications used in other specialized sectors, as in the case of BDL, he said”
